Jose De Diego School, Wynwood – Robert De Los Rios Interview

The Jose De Diego Middle School sits just outside of the Wynwood arts district in Miami. Although Wynwood itself is gentrifying quickly, the areas around it, the areas that feed the school, like Overtown, are still fairly impoverished, tuff, and derelict. This massive on-going mural project is organized in large part by Robert De Los Rios as part of his RAW (Reimagining the Arts in Wynwood) effort. I’M IN MIAMI BITCH! – The book

Andrew Kaufman is based in Miami and has fond memories of Art Basel Miami Beach..

He remembers the first year, when there was a carnival as an installation complete with ferris wheel, fortune teller and merry go round. Now a TARGET department store sits where that empty lot with the carnival once was. 11 years on and Miami has changed quite a bit, this past Art Basel(’12) he decided to create a photo essay about the street art scene in Wynwood, Miami’s art district. The project is called I’M IN MIAMI BITCH! This is his first book, which he has self published and it has received great support from the local community, with Andrew being invited to the Miami International Book Fair as a featured speaker.

The book itself is full colour, 6×9″ and 216 pages, with a brief foreward by Kenny Scharf.

You can pre-order it now and for a limited time until September 15st, you can also grab an autographed 1st edition with a sticker pack included.
