VNA exclusive! Here’s a sneak peek at Brooklyn-based artist Beau Stanton’s studio ahead of his latest show with Logan Hicks in New York, ‘Calm Before The Storm’, curated by Lori Zimmer and Natalie Kates. In his own words, Beau tells us a little bit about each image…
1) The large glass palette where I mix up a specific range of colors for each painting. This streamlines my painting process while also allowing me to strategize the overall color key that the painting will take on in the end. I buy a lot of my paint from a colorist in Brooklyn named Robert Doak who works with rare pigments that you can’t find anywhere else.
Today marks the launch of Buff Monster’s Kickstarter campaign to raise The Melty Misfits Series 2. After the huge success of the first series, it’s time for seconds. This new set of trading cards/stickers is going to be even more ambitious than the first: featuring over 40 new characters, new Kickstarter-exclusive packaging, and hopefully some new awesome inserts like foil cards and lenticulars.
Chris ‘Daze’ Ellis is something of a legend. Part and parcel of the wave of graffiti that reached out to a million youths all over the world through the medium of graffiti magazines, movies and books, he’s one man that can certainly walk the wall-talk. There’s not many interviews with anyone that’s picked up a spray-can where we don’t talk about Style Wars and Subway Art, so here’s a few words from a true school, humble pioneer.
