Martha Cooper x VNA Limited Edition Box Set!

It’s been a long time coming… We’ve chased Martha from New York to Berlin, Miami to South America and finally, we are proud to bring you the Martha Cooper x VNA Limited Edition box set.

vna_34_limited1

We’ve sourced paper, run test prints and bounced proofs back and forth over the course of 6 months to produce an amazingly detailed black & white screen-print of one of Martha’s photos on the cover of issue 34.

vna_34_limited5

It’s taken us a while to confirm all the components of this set (an edition of /150) – from the special signature camera pin badge, to the screen-printed cover and lovingly signed photo prints – and both ours and Martha’s quality control has been super high throughout – there is even an exclusive list included in each set with caption details of each of Martha’s images in the magazine.

We’d like to thank Martha publicly for her assistance and co-operation throughout this lengthy and difficult process, as well as special shouts to Louis @ Spraying Bricks, Nina @Joshua Liner Gallery, Rik @ Ripe Digital and Joshua @ White Duck Screen Print – without whom this would not have come together.

Pokras Lampas Is Releasing a New Screenprint Edition

pokras_print_01

We just received info about the new print release coming via Unframed Editions – Russian calligraphy artist Pokras Lampas will be releasing his new screenprint edition on Wednesday, June 8th at 5PM London time (12PM New York time).

Pokras currently resides in St. Petersburg, working on the self-developed style Calligrafuturism. Strongly inspired by Niels “Shoe” Meulman’s Calligraffiti he turned his focus from graffiti to street calligraphy, and became an official Calligraffiti Ambassador. The new edition is based on original artwork showcased at Calligraffiti Ambassadors exhibition in 2015, and it’s dedicated to the balance between the calligraphy and dark space around. Through wide urban strokes, done by flat broom and clean thin lines using white and gold, the image represents artistic vision of the future of letters, based on Cyrillic, Latin, Arabian and Asian alphabet with unique rules and letter forms. The new 3-colour hand-pulled screen print on Pur cotton 350gsm black paper will be released in low edition of 50 pieces measuring 63 x 63 cm, each signed & numbered by the artist.

VNA_26_BOTH_COVERS_2_S

In VNA 26 we’ve managed to cram in large-scale muralists, fine art, graff writers who’ve transitioned to galleries, abstract art and even some skateboarding. From London and California, to New York and Penang by way of Bristol, we’ve scoured the world to bring you a mix of awesome artists we’ve just discovered alongside some of our old favourites who haven’t yet had their time to shine in VNA.

VNA_26_BOTH_COVERS_S

As for the cover artist, we’ve returned to the UK to chat to a hugely influential artist and a bit of a personal hero of ours, Robert Del Naja, a character from the art world perhaps better known by his musical moniker; Massive Attack’s 3D.

VNA_26_CONTENTS_1

After our inaugural visit to Pow! Wow! Hawaii, we made the most of our contacts there, staying in touch with Augustine Kofie and going back to dig in the crates with Buff Monster. We’ve pulled out the stops to bring you some gallery talk with Jonathan LeVine, as well as crossing over to Australia to catch up with James Jirat Patradoon and Numskull.

VNA_26_CONTENTS_2

We also feature 10101010101010101010, or Ten Ten for short, the mystical eastern styles of Calma, London-based print wizard, Aida, and US-artist, Greg Lamarche. To keep things fresh, we’ve also gone large with Lithuanian street painter Ernest Zacharevic and a little abstract too by chatting to Icelandic mark-maker, Katrin Fridriks.

VNA_26_CONTENTS_3

Photo features focus on London, Singapore and Los Angeles, with contributions from NoLionsInEngland, Claude Crommelin, Mark Rigney, Chasing Ghosts and Birdman.

VNA_26_CONTENTS_4

With cover shots from the talented photographer James Sharrock, we’re stepping up our game all round and pushing the boat out with no less than 4 different covers available over the next couple of weeks.

VNA_26_CONTENTS_5

VNA 26 Is available to buy online from www.verynearlyalmost.com or you can pick up a copy in your awesome local Newsagent – we’re now stocked at WHSmith in the UK and Barnes & Noble in the USA, as well as a whole host of smaller, independent stores.

VNA_26_CONTENTS_6

As usual, it wouldn’t be a VNA launch without a big party to celebrate the release of the LTD Editions, and this time we have another dual-city launch in both London at Lazarides Outsiders and Bristol, at Weapon Of Choice Gallery, with delicious, beery support from our buddies at NYC’s Sixpoint Brewery.
