Save Yourselves in Hackney Wick

save-your-selves-pre-poster

For at least a decade, the urban art landscape of the East London area called Hackney Wick has shaped and developed the aesthetic of this unique pocket of London. Many of these artists have gone on to become some of the most prolific street artists of our time. As most buildings are doomed for demolition, subsequently so is the rich heritage of urban art in East London. Is there now anything left to Save, apart from ourselves?

Save Yourselves celebrates the art and the artists who have personal and emotional connections to the area. This October 14th at Stour Space, featured artist Aida Wilde will once again assemble the ‘Lunatics’ from the recent takeover of the Lord Napier pub (Hackney Wicked 2016), bringing you an immersive, visual and historical experience.

By sharing personal photos and archival images and footage, the local people of The Wick, Hackney WickED and Save Hackney Wick have contributed to what promises not to be just another gallery show but an insight into this unique community past and present.

Exhibiting along with the ‘Lunatics’ will be the launch of the printed posters of Sisters In Print,  a collective of opinionated sixteen national and international female artists, sharing  the love of print and print making. The prints produced for the show are all printed in Aida’s studio in the heart of Hackney Wick.

GCASFM – Book Fundraiser

GIVE CROHN’S A SLAP FROM ME (GCASFM) is a collaborative project founded by Matt
Strutt aka Cheffo31, to raise awareness of Crohn’s disease, with the help of some of the world’s most prolific graffiti artists, street artists and illustrators. Armed with a stack of 2000 USPS labels for artists to draw on, our aim is to turn these artistic interpretations of the title Give Crohn’s A Slap From Me, into a limited edition book
which will raise money for Crohn’s & Colitis UK. With new team members on board, designers Moose & Yeti, Andre Leitão and Joana Morgado, ex-VNA writer Ro Elfberg and media whizz Jack Shearring, the project is stronger than ever. Over 70 artists are now involved, we have a successful live art event under our belt and growing coverage of the project, we’re already slapping Crohn’s left, right and centre.. and we’ve only just begun.

With original, one-off artwork from each artist these are stickers you won’t get anywhere else and if we do say so ourselves we’ve got quite the lineup; 45RPM, A.CE, Buff Monster, D*Face, Dabs & Myla, Dscreet, Eine, Invader, Kid Zoom, LUDO, Mr Penfold, Mysterious Al, Numskull, Nychos, Richt, Ronzo, The London Police, The Toasters, The Yok & Vinnie Nylon.

The sticker packs are limited to an edition of 500, hand numbered and available to buy exclusively from our website while stocks last. A great stocking filler which we hope you’ll be as crazy about as we are. Grab them here!

Ronzo’s Derrick The Deathfin

Derrick the Deathfin is the world’s first underwater paper craft video game. This little Indie Game is a collaboration between street artist Ronzo and indie game studio Different Tuna, and is pretty much all handmade. It’s the first game of it’s kind. All of the concept art/ character designs/ environments were first built in paper craft by East London based street artist Ronzo.

The art style of Derrick is really something different. Ronzo took a very analogue approach that resulted in a hand made game entirely crafted from paper.

About the Game
It’s a fast-paced arcade action title, set in a unique aquatic world made entirely out of paper & card. In the game Derrick rampages around the globe munching on paper creatures and destroying everything he sees under the guise of avenging the death of his parents. After his parents have been brutally turned into soup by humans Derrick finds himself all alone in the depths of the ocean. Luckily this gives him a pretext to destroy everything in his path in an orgy of rigid destruction! Derrick’s quest takes him all around the globe, through 3 types of level, 4 different continents, 11 vibrant environments and 32 challenging levels. On the way Derrick must race against the clock and his own metabolism, collect diamonds, jump through flaming tyres in the sky, puzzle his way past manmade obstructions and duel to the death with oversized paper baddies.
You can sample his unique fast paced arcade action stylings, and profuse burping, on PSN right now!
