ALL GOOD THINGS

VNA_ALL GOOD THINGS_1200x1200 full

As the saying goes, ALL GOOD THINGS must come to an end and, after 10 amazing years, Very Nearly Almost Magazine is shutting up shop.

Finishing on a high that has seen the front cover graced by some of the brightest stars of the contemporary art world, including D*Face, Invader, Shepard Fairey, Futura, Swoon, Martha Cooper and more, the team behind VNA have made the difficult decision to draw this chapter to a close with an exhibition and forthcoming book.

In celebration of the incredible people that have made the magazine what it is, VNA are presenting their 10th Anniversary group show with some of the team’s favourite featured artists. 50+ artists make up this hand-picked selection of the world’s top talent, showing in one of East London’s longest-running contemporary urban art institutions, StolenSpace Gallery.

Showcasing work from all over the world, ‘ALL GOOD THINGS’ is comprised of original artworks, exclusive artist proofs and hand-finished prints from some of the leading international artists – artists who have helped shape the scene as we know it today. The VNA team has also assembled a tailored collection of some of the brightest new painters making waves across the globe.

The exhibition is all up for grabs, with artwork auctioned off on artFido and all proceeds from the auction sales donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. Bidding will begin at midday Thursday 27th April, closing at midnight on Sunday 30th April at:

www.artfido.com/vnamagazine

On the opening night, our VNA Newsstand will be bursting with back stock, including tees, stickers and other goodies – all at bargain prices. Hidden in amongst the stand, there will be a complete set of the VNA archive, from 1 to 35, available to buy from our private collection, including limited edition PP’s – strictly one archival item per person to keep things fair!

As with anything VNA-related, there will of course be a drink or two. Our friends at Sailor Jerry have kindly furnished us with a choice of delicious bespoke spiced rum cocktails and a deuce of their finest mixologists.

As if that wasn’t enough, we’ll be providing some of the lovely Soffle’s Pitta Chips to soak up some of the booze and giving away over a hundred free tacos from Luardos – served from Insa’s hand-painted taco truck.

The show opens for public viewing from 6-9pm Thursday 27th April and daily until the 30th April 11am-7pm at: StolenSpace Gallery, 17 Osborn St, London E1 6TD

Artists include:

Brandalism – Black Friday Ad Takeover – Paris COP21

Over 600 artworks critiquing the corporate takeover of the COP21 climate talks were installed in advertising spaces across Paris last night – ahead of the United Nations summit beginning this Monday.

Amidst the French state of emergency banning all public gatherings following the terrorist attacks on 13 November in Paris, the Brandalism project has worked with Parisians to insert unauthorised artworks across the city that aim to highlight the links between advertising, consumerism, fossil fuel dependency and climate change.

Paul Insect – Allouche Gallery – Interview

Allouche Gallery, NYC, is pleased to present, PAUL INSECT: 2033, Original Works Created in 2014, on December 13th.

P1200322

Paul Insect is known for his unique and individual sharp-edged images, which draws from the absurdism of Dada and is combined with the sleekness of modernism, yielding surreal renderings that point playfully at the deep dark underbelly of adult life. In the 1990s, Insect became known for his witty stencil and spray painted works, before transitioning to the gallery scene with color-drenched canvases, which teetered precariously between tradition and something far more messed up. Never before has chaos been channeled in such clean lines.

“& Friends the UK collective” group show @ Galerie Le Feuvre, Paris

uk_friends01
On November 13th Galerie Le Feuvre in Paris held an opening of their final event of the year, group show titled “& Friends the UK collective”. Featuring works by some of the UKs biggest stars from the street and urban art scene, the visitors could meet and see works of Paul Insect, Andrew McAttee, Sickboy, Xenz, Mr Jago and Word to Mother.

Curated with an idea to give a chance to experience the diversity and singularity of the British current art, the show included artists that to this day never exhibited in France. With all of them in attendance, the opening night turned into quite a party, while the quality of the works exhibited proved the show to be a great success on all levels. Zeus – Streetopoly

Schermafbeelding 2014-11-23 om 08.42.04

Our favourite fabricator of all typography, Zeus, has been beavering away in Amsterdam working on some projects. This is his latest creation, Streetopoly, featuring a board with all the biggest players in the street art world. You can play as Kaws, Banksy, Paul Insect, Invader, Zeus, Beejoir.

boxopoly25nov

The game features all the key names in the business as ‘properties’ on the board to purchase and, of course, the ever-present threat of ‘jail’ for those pursuing the more illicit activities.

Watch this space for more information, you can now pre-order a set and check out Zeus’ other work here:
