Murals In The Market 2016

apexer_muralsinthemarket_1xrun_finished-walls-23

Last year we were lucky enough to be invited out to 1xRUN’s Murals in the Market in Detroit. The event was surprising in so many ways, from the time taken by the team to show us what the city was really about – the once-indomitable motoring capital of the USA, with a thriving industry that birthed a lot of modern Capitalist structure, that has since come back from being slammed into depression and decay – to the amount of heart and community that the organisers put into it. With barber-chair artist chats, a roster of local events and genuine support for the artists and workers involved in the festival and beyond, one message was clear, Detroit got soul.

Felipe Pantone – ‘Data Somersault’

Screen shot 2016-06-01 at 7.20.06 PM

StolenSpace Gallery is proud to present ‘Data Somersault’ a new solo show from Felipe Pantone.
Felipe Pantone’s bright graphic style is at the forefront of street and urban contemporary art. Using strong colours, sharp edges and bold shapes, his work draws you in to his own dynamic aesthetic.

“I keep on with my quest for immediacy, connection, quick transition, travel and technological advancement. We live in exciting times where everything passes in front of our eyes at the speed of a glance, and much becomes data that relentlessly fills the cyberspace. This series of works challenges me to find solutions, put ideas in order, and solve graphic mysteries, all of which takes me closer to belonging to the times that we live in.”

Pantone has developed his own personal avant-garde artistic style. His use of shape and colour draws the viewer into his hypnotic and vibrant world, reminding us of a garish 80s atmosphere; synth pop and SMPTE colour bars on the TV.

Pantone draws his influences on modern-day concerns of the digital age and fast and never-ending development of technology, in which way he is discovering a new visual language in which to communicate.

Felipe has exhibited all over the world and has featured in several of our group shows (LAX/LHR, Reasons for the Seasons) but this will be his first solo show at StolenSpace. Opening 2 June 2016.

Felipe Pantone is opening “Data Smog” @ Lebenson Gallery, Paris

From 26th of March through 9th of May 2016 Lebenson gallery in Paris will be showing a solo show by Felipe Pantone. Spanish/Argentinian graffiti artist who successfully transfered his futuristic vibrant hi tech style onto a canvas and paper will be showing a new body of work titled “Data Smog”.
As one of the cutting edge urban / street artists out there, Pantone is fusing graffiti, typography and abstraction into a recognizable visual language bursting with ultra-modern aesthetics. Inspired by the technology and information that is influencing and changing our world and society by the minute, the idea of this show is to present the copious amounts of data that accumulates around the world. Though physically invisible and intangible, the artists depicts this “noxious muck and druck of the Information age” through vivid spectrum, highly evolved geometric shapes and rendered dimensional objects. For this show he produced 8 canvases (mostly square shaped), and 4 black and white pieces on paper.

Felipe Pantone – Video portrait by Selina Miles

Portrait of an Artist | Felipe Pantone from Selina Miles on Vimeo.

A series of facts of varying importance on the topic of Felipe Pantone.

Felipe Pantone is a contemporary slash kinetic slash graffiti artist living in Valencia, Spain. Selina Miles is a video director from Brisbane, Australia. Together, they celebrate their love of the internet and facts in this short film, directed and edited by Selina Miles.

Felipe Pantone’s body of work spans from graffiti to kinetic art. Strong contrasts, vivid colors, effects, and the use of mixed medium and varied technique combine to impact strongly on the viewer. What really intrigues is not the striking nature of his work, but the artist’s journey to discover this aesthetic. We live in a time where more images are produced than can possibly be seen, and the impetus for an artist to stand out from the others is stronger than ever. Information flows at an exponentially increasing rate, a leitmotif recurrent in Felipe Pantone’s compositions, his hyperactivity, working methods and his constant traveling around the world.

It was during this travel he met Selina Miles, an Australian filmmaker who specializes in documenting graffiti and street art. With a deep love for new techniques, camera tricks and fast-paced, energetic short films, Selina accepted Felipe’s challenge of cramming as much information as possible into a 5 minute film.

‘Stereodynamica’ by Felipe Pantone opens at Backwoods Gallery Friday October 16th from 6pm.
