DMV x BC Berlin Video

The title of the show “The Wall” explains in one word the most passionate part of most urban contemporary artist today. The public wall space has been a platform to all different kinds of art forms for decades now. From Haring and Basquiat to Banksy and Kaws, thanks to diversity and quality the “Graffiti” or “Mural” art form has well established itself in the contemporary art scene. For the DMV big murals are a way to express their collective creativity and have enough room for each artist to bring in his personal style without getting cramped or overloaded.

Menace Beach

This no budget film project is a cooperation between the artists Low Bros and the filmmakers Editude pictures, 3D implementation by Tobias Wüstefeld and sound support from School Of Light.

“Menace Beach” is a unique tribute to the birth of skateboarding. Instead of re-hashing the past, the Low Bros are trying to re-capture the attitude and feeling of those early skate-innovators together through a multi-media film that references the different eras and influences of skate history.
“Menace Beach” had its premier at this year’s Pictoplasma, in the conference as well as of the same named solo show, which was part of the “Pictoplasma Character Walk”.

We caught up with VNA issue 20 featured artist DeeDeeKid in his bedroom to find out a little bit more about the young artist.

At only 22 Niklas Coskan aka DeeDeeKid is still at an early stage of his career. Born in Herne, which is located in Germany’s former coal mining area the Ruhrpot, it is no wonder that one of his main topics is morbidity. His fresh, high quality output and the tremendous quantity at which he has delivered it in the last six years can only be explained by his young age – living his dream and having a lot of fun with it. A year ago DeeDeeKid moved to Berlin to study at the Berlin University of Arts and to work as a freelance illustrator and artist in this creative metropole.

You can read more from him in VNA issue 20.
