ROA paints new mural in Sardinia

VNA 12 cover artist ROA recently painted another of his striking animal murals in Sardinia.

The Belgian artist visited the mediterranean island to paint the mural as part of the Murartista Street Art festival, taking place in the small town of Sadali. His piece fittingly depicts the Sardinian wild boar tied by a rope to the skull of another boar, a commentary on the nature of life and death.

ROA joined artists Yama, Peeta and duo CAKTUS & MARIA for this year’s Murartista event, curated by LOOK-OUT, a new cultural association based in Sardinia.

The festival aims to develop innovative initiatives for artistic exchange in Sardinia, inviting leading international street artists to work in a collaborative, small community environment to explore new processes and concepts in public spaces.

PUBLIC AD CAMPAIGN

The Public Ad Campaign has been underway for a while now. Founder Jordan Seiler has finally finished the website for PublicAccess, marking the next stage of the project and providing a solid infrastructure for the open source project. You can now buy keys online, or download 3D print files for bus shelters worldwide. Some of the artists have already been taking advantage of the keys, with artwork from ELLE, Icy & Sot, Lister, Pac and more popping up all over the globe.

Read more below from Seiler on the ideas behind the project.

21st Precinct

VNA recently teamed up with Robert Aloia and Suzuki Capital LLC to bring together a groupshow of epic proportions at a derelict police precinct in NYC.

The show will be in the old 21st Precinct police building, located on 327 East 22nd St. It was built in 1863 and acted as a functioning precinct until 1914. We will have a pop up gallery space and 4 floors of murals, wheatpastes, graffiti and installations by renowned artists from NYC and worldwide. In the tradition of the Outlaw Parties of the late 80′s and early 90′s we will re-invigorate an unused space with a wide range of creative minds working in multiple mediums. Scheduled opening reception is 8/16/14 and will be open for viewing all weekend and a closing event the following weekend. The building is scheduled for demolition the last week of August. This will be the first of an ongoing series with Suzuki Capital at their various properties throughout the boroughs.
