Alaric Hammond – From Cheek to Blushing Cheek

Alaric Hammond’s new solo show ‘From Cheek to Blushing Cheek’ is a dystopian collection of paintings, drawing’s and original monotype prints exploring themes of protest and subterfuge within a world of decayed imperial grandeur. The artist presents varied styles of abstracted portraiture where the subject’s eyes and words are frequently obscured, often employing scrawled text, cartoonish details and comic violence to create an uneasy sense of hidden agendas and masked intentions.

Working from original collage Alaric has developed a highly original and textural approach to printmaking which is central to the new body of work presented in the show.
