Fatherless, a print collective from Rockford, Illinois, has gained international attention with their print, installation and commission work using a lurid palette and bold graphic sense.
Inspired by Sister Corita and Grandmaster Flash, Fatherless tries to push back against the constant barrage of imagery and frenzied sales pitches that compete for attention everyday. Through their bold colourful silk-screen mono-prints, they manipulate the manipulators with appropriation and satire and positive creative will, fighting against “our consumer driven, media saturated, disposable culture”.
Artists consist of Jarrod Hennis, Javier Jimenez, Greg Lang, Dave Menard and Londoner Ben Rider.
The members operate as a unit collaborating freely with each other’s ideas and imagery, without reavealing any individual artist or “father” but rather presenting an amalgam of the whole.
Each piece is a one off mono-print that will never be repeated.
