Hard working people from HeerlenMurals project in The Netherlands had another successful year in 2015. After new interventions and murals by 1010, Dourone, Felipe Pantone, Millo, etc, they recently wrapped up a fresh new piece by Johan Moorman from Eindhoven.
The mural is inspired by the mining history of the region, the heavy industry and it’s monotone architecture. The building that Moorman worked on is from the 60’s, and has many rims and edges, glass and pebble, which made it challenging to work. But, the artist got around to wrapping those elements with his graphic imagery, creating a cartoon like retro-futuristic setting. Using limited color palette and basic patterns, the finished mural plays with perspective while utilizing the given architectural elements as essential part of the work. Along with bright colors, the artist thought the people could use more uplifting elements so he added the text ‘Let The Good Times Roll’ to complete the piece.
