Spanish-born artist Gonzalo Borondo, is currently in London working on his upcoming solo debut organized by Rex Romae. From limited information we could get about this event, Animal will be a complex installation/show focused on conflict between our innate animal instincts and our present lives, which are coated with the dependence of technology and our fear for the unknown. With this in mind, the artist will divide the huge space into 8 different sections, covering different themes, all relating to dramatic nature of the humans.
Known to work with all kind of mediums, from fire (seen above), to scratching, acrylic, spray paint, and pretty much anything that leaves physical mark, Borondo will also be presenting video installations and painting animations in collaboration with Carmen Maín (Spain), and sculpture installations, created together with Edoardo Tresoldi (Italy) and Despina Charitonidi (Germany). The show curated by Rom Levy, founder of RexRomae, and noted art curator, Charlotte Dutoit from JustKids, will will take place at a pop-up location in Shoreditch, and will be open to visitors from the 5th through the 28th of February.
