The sculptures are hidden in locations across all 5 boroughs, while the street art pieces can be found in lower Manhattan locations in Chinatown, Nolita and LES, selected to add the character of the streets to the work.
The public is encouraged to take part by downloading a free app, checking in at the eggs and entering into a sweepstakes to win precious gemstone pendants provided by Fabergé. All the eggs are sold online via Paddle 8, or at a live Sotheby’s auction to raise money for Elephant Family and Studio in a school.
The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt caused a frenzy in 2012 in London and raised over $1,5 million as well as some seriously fanatical egg hunters and a media storm
The street art collection was curated by Jason Woodside and Marsha Meredith. Jason is a painter living and working in New York City, and Marsha is Executive Creative Director of Saatchi & Saatchi X New York, and also an artist. Both have eggs in the Egg Hunt. Special thanks also goes to Chris Vidal from Supra for his assistance.
Marsha Meredith, commented, ‘Its been a privilege working with the team on this project, and we can’t thank the artists and locations enough for their enthusiasm and their great work. Happy hunting, and bidding. ’
