Kid-zoom (Ian Strange) is on the up… in a big way!

From starting his graffiti and art career in Perth, Western Australia, one of the most remote cities in the world, to painting and living on the east coast of Australia and hooking up with Ron English on some subversive bus shelter interventions, this Kid has done a lot and made big moves in the urban art world. Ian has recently relocated to NYC and started working under the mentorship of Ron English to produce new work and he is about to open his first international solo show called ‘This city will eat me alive’…

I first came across Ian’s work when I saw the tagged kangaroo road kill which was obviously somewhere in outback OZ, then there was the vintage playboy covers with Ian’s typically detailed characters painted over the top, and more recently this amazing street and gallery work. Ian was also one of the selected artists that painted NYC’s Underbelly project recently.

It seems that Ian has built himself quite a following from artists, fans and celebs alike. US R’n’B singer Chris Brown recently gave him props on his twitter (over 1million followers) saying “Hands down KID ZOOM is the best graffiti artist ever!!!!!!”

If you are in NYC from the 11th to the 30th of December get on down to 72 Gansevoort St in the meat packing district… this promises to be a show not to miss!!!
