The day after the French Senate pass a law banning the wearing of the Islamic veil in public, Babelgum Metropolis announce the release of ‘Princess Hijab’, a documentary following the street artist drawing veils on faces of Parisian adverts.
The purpose of the art is nicely summed up on their site:
‘hijabizing’ adverts raises the question of why hiding a face behind a veil is considered to be more of a repressive act than hiding one behind airbrushing and media gloss.
